Art making-Re-make up 1996
I am dealing in my work with the relationship between the concept of the "Ready- made"
and Art-making" which is connected with reproduction.
I collected black & white photography from magazines and drawing over them using black marker.
The photography image features mostly Hollywood stars, top models, and musicians.
The lines and marks I made distort the image. To introduce an element of chance, I attack these images using my left hand.
The original image and black lines are related to each other.
This defacing of the ready-made image results in a black and white drawing.
Magazine images: Ready-made
Black line drawing: Art-Making
In this process of "Re-make up", I am trying to find a relationship between the power of reproduction
and basic Art-making.
I am struggling with the question of Art-making in the context of ready-made reproduction.
I would like to make visible the force of" Re-makeup"
